Head Coach

Matt Johnson

Matt has been a coach with the Rockets organization since 2015, and began his coaching career a few years prior. Previously coaching his own daughter's team from 10s through 18s, he has 'started over' with a new group of athletes, starting with the "402" crew in 2024 and continuing this year as they enter the 12 and under division.

Matt specializes in hitting, and offers private hitting lessons at the Rockets indoor facility. 

​

Matt is became the President of the Rockets organization in the end of 2025, and is excited to further the legacy of the Rockets and help the organization continue to provide young athletes the opportunity to learn and love the game of softball. 

Assistant Coach

Dreya Roberts

Dreya has been an assistant coach for a few rockets teams starting in 2019. In 2025, she joined Matt and the "402" girls and continues to watch them grow as they make their jump into 12 and under during the 2026 season.

Dreya is originally from Lincoln, she attended Morningside University where she played softball during her freshman year. After graduation Dreya returned to Lincoln and resumed coaching youth softball. 

​

Dreya became the Secretary for the Rockets organization in the end of 2025. As a young coach, who more recently experienced playing softball here in Lincoln, she is hoping to use her unique perspectives to further the mission of the Rockets organization. 

Assistant Coach

Erika McCarthy

Erika is originally from Chicago, and is in Lincoln attending the University of Nebraska Lincoln. She originally started with the Rockets in 2024 to gain volunteer hours for a class assignment. Erika loved her time coaching and so when she returned to school in the fall, she returned to the Rockets as well.

Erika specializes in catching instruction, a former catcher herself, and is often taking extra time and attention with the team's catchers. Her help in this specialized area has helped the catchers on the team grow exponentially.
